Ahmed Maiteeq gives oath of office as new Libyan prime minister
Businessman Ahmed Maiteeq was sworn in on Sunday as Libya's new prime minister after a chaotic vote in parliament.

Deputy parliamentary speaker Saleh al-Makhzouq asked Maiteeq during a televised session to form a government within two weeks.

Earlier, the second deputy speaker of parliament Saleh al-Makhzoun said that Libyan businessman Ahmed Maiteeq is the country's new prime minister.

"Ahmed Maiteeq is officially the new prime minister," Makhzoun told a chaotic session of the General National Congress.

Some lawmakers immediately challenged this, saying Maiteeq had failed to win the necessary quorum in an earlier vote.
