Iraq security back to the forefront, death toll on the rise

The series of attacks Iraq witnessed on Thursday, among which a suicide attack targeting Shiite visitors south of the country, in addition to blasts that rocked Baghdad killed more than 61 people and injured 138 others, in light of a violent wave that happens to coincide with the country’s political crisis.          

Around 2/3 of Thursday’s dead were killed in an attack perpetrated by a suicide bomber that targeted Shiite visitors who were walking towards the holy city of Kerbala to commemorate the 40th Of Imam Al-Hussein.          

According to a medical source, hospitals in the province of Dhi Qar received 38 bodies and 62 injured people among the blast’s victims.
