A British court sentenced an Asian man who locked up his wife in the bathroom because she chose to wear strange underwear for 18 months of jail. British Daily Mail reported that Zahrana Bayghum was in the bathroom when her ex-husband Khalik Mia, 35 years old, barged in with a hammer in his hand describing her underwear as “diabolic”.

The daily reported that Khalik put his hand around his divorcee's mouth to prevent her from screaming and punched her in the stomach and the chest. According to the daily, he criticized her for dying her hair with a light color and wearing strange lingerie and locked her in the bathroom for an hour.

Khalik separated from his wife Zahrana after an eight-year-marriage. They have two children together, a three year-old and a seven year-old. Khalik confessed to the court that he locked up his ex-wife, assaulted her and injured her.
