Pakistani security officials say a US drone fired two missiles at militant hideout in a northwestern tribal region bordering Afghanistan, killing five Taliban fighters.
Two officials said the strike took place Saturday morning in the town of Datta Khel in North Waziristan, where Pakistani troops have been carrying out a major operation against local and foreign militants since June.
Earlier this week, the Pakistani Taliban killed 148 people, most of them children, in a school massacre in the northwestern city of Peshawar.
The officials said the slain men fought under local Pakistani Taliban commander Hafiz Gul Bahadur. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media. AP
