New SNC leader: Future Syria will be for all confessions, confrontation reached tipping point
The new elected leader of the Syrian National Council Abdelbaset Sayda called on Syrian leaders Sunday to split from the regime since the confrontation reached a tipping point. Sayda pointed out that the SNC allocated 3 billion dollars to provide emergency relief to the affected areas in Syria.

In a press conference held in Istanbul on Sunday, his first as SNC leader, Sayda called on all Syrians to intensify protests outside Syrian embassies all over the world, urging international observers to visit Homs and Lattakia.

Sayda called on Russia and China to join international efforts and support to the Syrian people’s demands.

“Future Syria will be for all sects and confessions without any discrimination”, he said.

For his part, former leader of the SNC Burhan Ghalioun said that Sayda’s elections shows the council’s cohesion and constitutes a response to those who doubted the council’s unity and ability to survive.
