Obama-Erdogan call for more sanctions on Syria
The American President Barack Obama met on Tuesday with several world leaders at U.N. headquarters, including the head of Libya's transitional government, Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan; he is also scheduled to meet Wednesday evening with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, to discuss Palestinian bid for full membership at the United Nations.

After his meeting with PM Erdogan, Obama called for serious moves and new sanctions to be imposed on Syria amid the ongoing bloodshed.

The White House advisor for European affairs, Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall said that the Obama-Erdogan meeting was not planed and they both stressed the importance of new sanctions on Syria, stronger than the previous ones to force President Bashar Assad to leave power.
