Thirty-one children dead in Turkey migrant boat sinking
Turkish media say at least 60 migrants have drowned after their boat sank off the coast of western Turkey.                   

Turkey's TRT television says 20 bodies were recovered and an unknown number of immigrants remain missing. Reports say nearly 50 people survived, and that the immigrants are mostly from Iraq and Syria.    

Tahsin Kurtbeyoglu, governor of the coastal district of Menderes in Turkey's western Izmir province, said 31 of the dead were children, including three babies. He said most of the migrants were Palestinians.                

The Hurriyet newspaper website said Thursday that more than 100 people were on the boat. It was not immediately clear when the vessel sank.
