Washington calls on Saleh to step down

The White House called on Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh on Friday to launch a full transition of power following his sudden return to Yemen after a 3-month-long absence.

White House spokesman Jay Carney condemned the use of force against protestors in the Yemeni streets, saying “only a political solution can put an end to the crisis in Yemen”.
