REPORT: Renowned Egyptian musician Amar al-Sharii dies

The Egyptian musician Amar al-Sharii died on Friday morning at a hospital in Cairo at the age of 64 after a long struggle with illness.              

Lately, al-Sharii has been suffering from complications in his health.               

The legendary Egyptian composer had had his first heart attack whilst protesting in Tahrir Square during the uproars of January 25th. He was placed in hospital following that incident and was released shortly after.                 

Al-Sharii, who was a blind man, died with several musical achievements under his belt. His legacy will be remembered in the repertoire of over 20 films, 150 series, 20 radio programs, 20 theatrical plays, and various works for renowned late Egyptian Diva Umm Kulthum many of which won awards on Arab and global levels.
