Israel deploys battalion along Egypt’s Sinai border

Israel has deployed a battalion in the city of Eilat on the Red Sea coast facing Egypt’s Sinai dessert, a military statement said.

The statement pointed out that this battalion was established to strengthen security and will operate along the Egyptian border.

This as Islamist groups in the Sinai Peninsula grow in influence in post-revolutionary Egypt.
