Ukraine: Air Force destroys 28 out of 31 drones launched by Russia

The Ukrainian army stated on Monday that Russia launched 31 drones and two missiles on Ukraine during the night, mainly targeting the southern regions of the country. The air defense systems destroyed the two missiles and 28 drones.

The Air Force, through Telegram, mentioned, "The Ukrainian Air Force and defense forces destroyed 28 Shahed drones in the areas of Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Donetsk, Kyiv, and Khmelnytskyi." It added that the drones were launched from the Crimean Peninsula, which is occupied by Russia.

The army re-released previous information about downing two Russian military planes near the city of Mariupol, occupied by Russia on the Sea of Azov in southern Ukraine, and near the occupied city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine.

Military officials from both Russia and Ukraine stated on Sunday that forces shot down aircraft in various areas along the 1,000-kilometer front in the ongoing war that has been raging for 22 months.

Reuters has not independently verified the Ukrainian Air Force's report, and Russia has not commented yet.
