Georgian Prime Minister announces his resignation

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced his resignation at a press conference broadcast on television on Monday, ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for October."

Earlier reports from Georgian media had indicated that Irakli Kobakhidze, the leader of the ruling Georgian party, would replace Garibashvili, who has been serving as Prime Minister since 2021.
