Gaddafi's killing fuels Syria's Friday protests, 4 civilians killed

Four civilians, three in Homs and one in Reef Daraa, were shot dead by Syrian security forces, AFP reported on Friday.     

The killing of Libya's Muammar Gaddafi fuelled demonstrations across Syria after Friday prayers that called for the ouster of President Bashar al-Assad, braving a heavier than normal security presence, activists and residents said.    

"Gaddafi is finished. It is your turn now Bashar!" shouted demonstrators in the town of Maaret al-Numaan in the northwestern province of Idlib, according to one witness.      

Syrian activists had earlier called for staging demonstrations on Friday under the banner of “Arab one-week deadline” across all Syrian towns.     

Activists posted their appeal on the Facebook page “the Syrian revolution against Assad” along with the logo of the Arab League dripping blood.    

The Arab Foreign Ministers called last Sunday, during an emergency meeting in Cairo, for the establishment of an Arab committee which would seek to hold a comprehensive National dialogue within 15 days between the Syrian regime and the opposition. However, Syria showed reservation over the statement.
