UNSC to lift no-fly zone over Libya

The UN Security Council began discussing on Friday the possibility of removing the no-fly zone imposed on Libya in March. Envoys said that the UNSC is expected to make such a decision following consultations with the new Libyan authorities.

This UN move coincides with the declaration made by NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen who said that the alliance intends to end its air and naval operations in Libya at the end of October.
