The US Customs and Border Protection reported that a 35-year-old Mexican man was arrested for hiding more than one ton of marijuana in bell peppers.

Officials said that the man was arrested for inspections on Tuesday after a drug-sniffing dog detected the presence of illegal imports with him.

In this context, investigators said that they discovered 280 packages of marijuana, weighting more than a ton and estimated at US $1,068,000 million.

Investigators added that the illegal imports were hidden inside a shipment of bell peppers and mentioned that the drugs and trucks were seized and the suspect was handed over to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations agents.
