Turkish police foil Al-Qaeda attack against US embassy in Ankara
              
Turkish media reports said on Friday that police have thwarted an alleged plot by Al-Qaeda to bomb the US embassy in Ankara alongside a synagogue and other targets in Istanbul.             

In this context, police said that they had arrested 12 people including 8 Turks, 2 Azeris, and 2 Chechens, and seized 22 kilograms of explosives as a result of a February raid in Istanbul and the northeastern city of Corlu, Agence France Presse said.              

Documents that allegedly revealed the plans of the group were also found in the raid           

On February 1st, the US embassy in Ankara was the target of a suicide bombing which left a Turkish security guard dead. A radical Marxist and anti-US armed group known as The Revolutionary People’s Liberation Front (DHKP-C) blacklisted by the US and the European Union as a terrorist organization, claimed responsibility for the attack.
