Arab League gone beyond Mandate, says Syria representative

Syria's Arab League Representative Youssef Ahmed said on Monday that Damascus is surprised by the statements of Arab League Chief Nabil el-Araby and his deputy Ahmad Bin Halli, given that they are both very aware that the document known as the “Arab Action Plan” was drafted in bid to help, not hurt, Syria.    

Ahmed told the Syrian TV that “by issuing these statements, the general secretariat is creating ambiguity and confusion, unrelated to the Arab Action Plan and is playing a role that violates the prerogatives vested by the Charter of the Arab League.    

Ahmed urged el-Araby and his deputy to thoroughly read through the Arab Action Plan, as he voiced surprised that both of them have not noticed that the U.S. is blatantly inciting armed terrorist groups to continue fighting and leverage the Syrian amnesty to their advantage.    

Ahmed confirmed that “Syria has agreed on the Arab Action Plan during the Arab Ministerial Committee, and is today reiterating its commitment to what it has already agreed upon.”
