Only 73 MPs attended the session with 86 MPs (out of 128) being the required amount of lawmakers needed for holding a constitutional assembly.
Earlier lawmakers headed to Nejmeh Square to partake in the parliamentary session tasked to elect a new president.
Speaker Nabih Berri was the first to arrive to parliament to head the session, after holding talks with member of the Change and Reform bloc MP Ibrahim Kanaan.
Among the deputies who arrived were MPs Wael Abou Faour, Henry Helo, Mohammad Qabbani, Walid Jumblatt and Kazem al-Kheir.
In turn, member of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Nawaf al-Moussawi arrived as well to al-Nejmeh Square, noting that he had come solely to offer condolences to an employee who had lost a loved one.
