Jumblatt calls for forming a capable national unity cabinet

The head of the National Struggle Front MP Walid Jumblatt stressed on Monday the need to support the Lebanese Armed Forces in carrying out duties within volatile regions where security breaches mount, instead of wasting time with debates regarding the constitutional council and the law pertaining to the extension of the parliament's mandate, calling on all parties to seek minimum agreement to reach solutions for political disputes at hand.

During his weekly statement to al-Anbaa Newspaper, Jumblatt stressed the need to from a cabinet of national unity that will be capable of solving all pending issues. He denounced the Syrian army’s shelling on the border town of Arsal and the rocket attacks targeting the Lebanese territories.

The NSF leader hailed the positions of President Michel Sleiman and Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai "who are keen on preserving national sovereignty and ending divisions between the Lebanese people."

Commenting on the Syrian crisis, Jumbatt said that there is no choice but a political solution through an international conference with the participation of Arab and regional states concerned with preserving the unity of Syria and ending the civil war, calling for the departure of President Bashar Assad and "his aides whose hands were bloodstained."
