Litani River falls victim to eco-crimes, threatens region’s residents
The Litani River is facing a serious ecological disaster that threatens the region’s residents. Animal carcasses, waste, sewage water and pesticides used in agriculture are being thrown directly into the river.

These careless acts are also carried out along the agricultural roads that run the length of the river and those that branch off from the bridge located in Zahle’s industrial park, Deir Zenoun, where the number of cow carcasses increases daily with no governmental oversight.

Despite repeated calls for action by residents and meetings between Bekaa MPs and local mayors, all efforts to reach an effective solution for Litani polluters have been washouts.
