REPORT: Lebanon's cabinet defers discussions over LU dossier until next Thursday
The Lebanese cabinet failed on Thursday to resolve pending disputes linked to granting Lebanese University professors full-time employment and deferred discussions over the LU dossier until next Thursday.

"The fate of the LU and its students will be in danger should this issue remain unsettled," Education Minister Elias Bou Saab warned.

The minister's statements were made following the cabinet session that was held at the Grand Serail under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tammam Salam.

“We still hope that the LU dossier will be settled,” Bou Saab said, noting that PM Salam had pledged to address the issue during the upcoming cabinet session, slated for July 9.

The minister also said that thousands of teachers are seeking tenure at the university, adding however that "only those with proper credentials will be granted their wish".
