Snow invasion blocks mountain roads in Lebanon

Snow fell in Lebanon at an altitude of 1,000 meters. The Civil Aviation Management Weather Services expects that Friday’s weather will be cloudy and rainy with scattered thunderstorms and increasing wind speed. The weather services added that no remarkable temperature changes will be witnessed on Friday and snow will fall in the morning at an altitude of 800 meters in the Bekaa region and the north. However, the weather will start improving from Friday night onwards.

It is reported that the Dahr al-Baidar road is clear again after only four-wheel drive vehicles equipped with tire chains were able to circulate.

However, The Tarshish-Zahle and Chebaa-Rachaya roads are still blocked by snowfalls. Some of Aley villages were also covered by snow, where snow-plowing centers continually saw to it that roads are clear for circulation. However, the snowstorm prompted some schools to close doors.
