Obama, Netanyahu speak on Iran developments

The White House says President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have spoken by phone about Iran amid tensions over the killing of an Iranian nuclear scientist in Tehran.

The U.S. has denied any role in the slaying. Iranian authorities blamed Israel.

A White House statement about Thursday's phone call did not say whether the leaders discussed the Iranian scientist's death, who was killed by a bomb attached to his car. It said the two "discussed recent Iran-related developments," including efforts to hold Iran accountable for failures to meet international obligations.

The U.S. and its allies are pressuring Iran to halt uranium enrichment. Instead, Iran appears to be expanding operations, and the U.S. also is angered over an Iranian court's death sentence to a U.S. citizen.
