Tashnag party against warm welcome for Davutoglu
The Tashnag party’s central committee in Lebanon said that it did not call for a sit-in in protest of the Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu’s visit to Lebanon, for it is aware of the importance of the “Conference on Reform and Transition to Democracy” held in Lebanon, and its repercussions on the internal scene amid the current regional circumstances.

The party’s central committee expressed in a statement its discontent over the warm reception of the Turkish PM, especially by political and religious authorities, at a time when his country is playing a negative role in the country and trying to win the Arabs’ support, with the support of the west, to serve timely interests and authoritarian ambitions.

The committee reminded that Turkey is the heiress of the Ottoman Empire, thus it cannot preach on democracy and Human Rights before recognizing its ancestors’ atrocities against the Armenians and other minorities, including genocide and the violation of lands and rights. It warned against the legislation of Turkey’s greed at the expense of the Arab interests.
