Preparations underway to dismantle Jal el-Dib Bridge
Preparations are underway to dismantle the Jal el-Dib Bridge as a Council for Development and Reconstruction’s team inspected the bridge’s lanes on Thursday to set a plan of action.

Beginning January 21, the entrance towards Jal el-Dib will be blocked for vehicles coming from Jounieh and the traffic will be deviated towards Nahr al-Mot to enter Jal al-Dib after the eastern lane of the bridge will be enlarged by removing the sidewalks and thus creating 3 traffic lanes.

On January 28, the entrance to Beirut will be blocked for vehicles coming from Jal el-Dib, and thus drivers headed towards the capital will be deviated to Antelias.

The Council for Development and Reconstruction will carry out construction works on the north-bound section of the highway adjacent to the bridge, thus creating 6 traffic lanes. After renovations works of the roads adjacent to the bridge are complete, 6 additional months will be needed to dismantle the bridge.

During the construction process, parking near shops adjacent to Jal el-Dib will be explicitly prohibited.
