Russia says opposes sanctions against Syria
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday Russia remained opposed to sanctions against Syria, signalling no shift in its stance over the government's use of force against protesters seeking an end to President Bashar al-Assad's rule.  

Lavrov also reiterated Moscow's opposition to outside military intervention in Syria.
