Rai: We must break the ice between Lebanon's parties

Maronite Patriarch, Bshara Rai, on Tuesday said the main goal is to fill the gap between the country's factions and break the ice among all.

The Patriarch confirmed that Bkerke’s dialogue with Hezbollah dwells on three major topics: a Lebanese entity as state, a national pact and Lebanon's message to the Arab world. Rai made these remarks in his meeting with students of the Lebanese Democratic Party, whereby he reminded that Lebanon had always been known for its democratic system.

"Nowadays, we are in urgent need for a democratic life in Lebanon, in light of the Arab developments," he declared, assuring that rejecting unilateralism, clinging to conviviality, and highlighting the youths' role are a must for the country's persistence.

The Patriarch, who called for rejecting hostile rhetoric, reiterated his call for holding a new national meeting based on the 1943 national pact. He finally said "Lebanon's beauty emanates from its diversity," describing it as the region's "mosaic".
