Rai: Social justice is a priority
Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai presided over the ordination of three new bishops Saturday, advising them to be a uniting force that does not stand silent in the face of injustice.

The Bkerke ordination was attended by First Lady Wafaa Sleiman who represented the President, head of the Change and Reform bloc, General Michel Aoun, Minister Gibran Bassil and MPs Antoine Zahra, Boutros Harb, Samer Saadeh, Elie Aoun, Simon Abi Ramya, Abbas Hashem, and Naji Garios as well as Syrian Ambassador Ali Abed el Karim Ali and National News Agency Director, Laure Sleiman Saab.

"We emphasize adherence to the Patriarchate, and consolidation of the Maronite identity as we hold on to Lebanon," Rai told his congregation.

"The church cannot have a political color or cling to a certain regime."

Newly ordained bishops Mounir Khairallah, Michel Aoun and Elias Sleiman were directed by Rai to preserve social justice and equality for the sake of the common good.
