Introduction to the evening news 29-02-2012

Lebanon qualified for the final round of the 2014 World Cup Asia regional qualifiers although the Lebanese national football team lost the game to the U.A.E. on Wednesday.

The Lebanese were busy watching the day’s match and cheering on their team while the storm raged outside. Unfortunately, more wind, rain and snow are forecast for tomorrow.

In politics, the situation can be described as a truce between two storms. After the cabinet finally held a session, all eyes are on the parliamentary session scheduled for March 5 and, until now, no settlement regarding the expenditure is brewing.

On the Syrian front, information provided by official Syrian sources says that Baba Amro has fallen under the control of troops despite opposition reports to the contrary.

On another note, LBCI and its CEO Pierre El Daher won the appeal case against the Lebanese Forces.
