Charbel: Tomorrow is a usual day

Minister of the Interior, Marwan Charbel, announced tomorrow a normal day with security business proceeding ahead as usual.

The minister's reassurances came in the wake of a high-ranking security meeting attended by police, gendarmes and army Intelligence topbrass at the ministry today.

Anticipating anti-Assad demonstrations organized by Lebanese Islamists in a number of towns and cities, the minister said tight security measures would be taken to ensure a peaceful passing of marches.

He found no problem with people expressing themselves on the street provided of course that they conduct themselves in a fairly democratic way. He concluded that his forces would prevent any fifth column from fishing in troubled water or dragging the country into an unforeseen situation.
