Introduction to the evening news 04-03-2012
The Martyrs Square event took place today, awaiting the Nejmeh Square [legislative session] event to occur tomorrow.

Both events made it to the forefront despite that their echoes were less than expected in terms of participation.
Many key figures participated today. Along with Salafist Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir, former Minister Fayez Shokr and Interior Minister Marwan Charbel, Singer Fadel Chaker joined the Salafist protest and chanted, showing support for the Syrian opposition.

As both protests wrapped up, attention shifted to tomorrow’s events whose stars are the billions spent by the current cabinet versus the billions spent by governments since 2006.

The legislative session might be suspended over a lack of quorum in the event that the 8, 9 trillion LBP draft law is put to a vote.

On a separate note, a meeting between President Sleiman, Patriarch Rai and General Aoun was the focus of attention this afternoon. The meeting, which was held away from the media, was probably held in a bid to bridge the gap between Sleiman and Aoun through the mediation of Rai.
