Syrian forces shell bridge used by refugees escaping to Lebanon

While violence is ongoing in Syria, increasing the death toll, the White House announced that the U.S. Administration is currently focusing on diplomatic and political initiatives to solve the crisis in Syria and not military intervention.        

Washington considered that the best solution in Syria would be to isolate the regime, cut the main income sources and urge the opposition to unite.         

For his part, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for the immediate establishment of humanitarian corridors, stressing the necessity to pressure Damascus in this regard.        

In contrast, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Ginado Gatilov warned that the new project promised by Washington to call for the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Syrian cities is only a slightly-amended copy of the previous project that was vetoed. Gatilov said that the text must be more balanced.       

As for China, it reiterated through the spokesperson for its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that the political solution is the best way out of the crisis, refusing any meddling in the Syrian internal affairs under humanitarian pretexts.       

Meanwhile, Madrid announced that it may close its embassy in Damascus on Tuesday to voice its rejection of what is being committed against protestors in Syria.        

In the field, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that Syrian forces shelled a bridge used by injured civilians and refugees on their way to Lebanon. AFP quoted a well-informed Lebanese official as saying that the bridge passes over the Orontes River and links the Syrian town of Rabla to Jousiyah, a town bordering the Lebanese region of Kaa.         
In Baba Amro, SANA reported that small remote controlled aircrafts, corridors and tunnels, some up to 2 meters in diameter, as well as large quantities of weapons were discovered.
