Soueid: Assad’s excessive use of force pushed Syrians to defend themselves
March 14 General Secretariat Coordinator Fares Soueid told Nharkom Said TV show that a political solution to the Syrian crisis is not a realistic choice, adding that the excessive use of force by Syrian President Bashar Assad against rebels pushed them to defend themselves.

Soueid stressed that the Arab world and the international community have isolated Assad, adding “excessive use of violence will only increase the Syrian people’s perseverance to topple the regime”.

Soueid said that March 14 forces will benefit if Iran’s influence diminishes in the region thus diminishing also the influence of Syria “that has allowed a Lebanese party to impose its conditions on the rest of the Lebanese and control the Lebanese political life.”
