Aoun stands by Patriarch Rai

Speaking on the verbal attacks targeting Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai, the Head of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun said that the accusations made against Rai are unacceptable.

During his weekly stance that follows the bloc’s meeting, Aoun stressed that in the event of a dispute with the Patriarchal chair, the dispute should be limited to politics. “The bloc stands by the patriarch”, Aoun said.

Turning to public finances, Aoun added that the bloc refused to succumb to reality and took the initiative to reach a constitutional and legal solution.

“This meant getting the train back on track”, Aoun said, stressing the need to pass a draft that determines the principles to draw up a balance sheet.

Pertaining to Syria, the head of the Free Patriotic Movement reassured the public saying that the Syrian crisis will end soon; reaffirming that stability in Syria will in turn benefit Lebanon.
