Charbel says security situation in Lebanon composed, stable

Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Marwan Charbel, said that the security situation in Lebanon is stable and that the state is sparing no effort on all levels to keep the country aside from the repercussions of neighboring turmoil.         

The Minister spoke today from Tunisia, shortly after meeting with the Saudi Deputy Interior Minister, Prince Ahmed Abdul Aziz, on the sidelines of the 29th session of the Arab Interior Ministers.       

Talks reportedly featured high on the current political and security juncture and most recent developments on the Arab regional scene.        

Charbel said that Lebanon was affected, whether positively or negatively, by the situation in Syria, hoping that a peaceful solution would be finally reached to the year-old crisis in this neighboring unrest-swept nation.      

He said that the disassociation policy, which the Lebanese Mikati-led government has adopted vis-à-vis the region's developments, indeed proved efficiency "especially that Lebanon had for long suffered from the others meddling into the Lebanese internal affairs."          

Charbel later met with the Secretary General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, Mohammad Ben Ali Kuman, in presence of General Security Chief, Brigadier Abbas Ibrahim.
