Abou Jamra criticizes Aoun’s work pattern via LBCI

Former Deputy PM Maj. Gen. Issam Abou Jamra told Nharkom Said TV show that remarks made by Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai where he voiced fears that extremists might take the reins of power will only scare people.

“The patriarch is a religious man and strategic decisions should be discussed with politicians before making statements”, Abou Jamra said.

Speaking on the Syrian crisis, Abou Jamra urged the cabinet to take a unified position on Syria in order to protect Lebanon from any future repercussions. The former FPM official stressed the need to avoid betting on external positions or policies.

Abou Jamra highlighted the importance of protecting and demarcating borders so that Lebanon does not turn into a passageway for Syria and vice versa.

He also criticized the work pattern followed by the Head of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun in all Lebanese affairs including the STL, false witnesses and labor law. “People should be appalled by Aoun’s policy of airing [others’] dirty laundry”, Abou Jamra said.

Turning to public spending, Abou Jamra voiced surprise over the commotion that is surrounding this subject, wondering: “Can we say that [public funds] were stolen if the balance sheet was drawn up in 3 days?” He regarded this whole affair as proof of mismanagement.
