REPORT: Dialogue session ends, next round scheduled for January 11

The national dialogue session ended on Monday and new round was scheduled for the 11th of January 2016.

Following the session, MP Michel al-Murr stressed that the session was dedicated to reactivating the governmental work, noting that several political matters were tackled amid a positive atmosphere.

Speaker Nabih Berri had opened the session by observing a minute of silence for the death of Hezbollah’s Samir Qantar.

Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil and MP Hikmat Dib attended the session representing Head of Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun.

Kataeb party leader Sami Gemayel also attended the session after boycotting the meeting to protest against failure to reach a solution for the waste crisis and failure to reactivate the governmental work.

Former Prime Minister Najib Mikati was absent from the session due to the death of his sister, and was represented by MP Ahmad Karami.
