Sleiman: Coptic pope’s death an “Egyptian and Arab loss”

President Michel Sleiman called the head of Egypt’s Council of the Armed Forces Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi extending his condolences over the death of the Coptic pope Shenouda III.

Sleiman described the pope’s absence as “an Egyptian and Arab loss.”

Sleiman tasked Deputy Prime Minister Samir Mokbel with paying condolences on his behalf and on behalf of Speaker Nabih Berri and PM Najib Mikati.

Separately, Sleiman was briefed by Interior Minister Marwan Charbel on the atmosphere of “Arab Interior Ministers Conference” which took place in Tunisia last week.

Sleiman also held separate meetings with MP Ahmad Fatfat, ISF Chief General Ashraf Rifi and General Security Director General Abbas Ibrahim.
