Jumblatt: only a political solution ousting Assad regime could end the crisis

National Struggle Front leader MP Walid Jumblatt said on Monday that political and media promotions that a security solution for Syria has become imminent are “only illusions”.

During his weekly column for the Anbaa daily, Jumblatt said that security solutions exacerbate the situation, confirming that a transitional political solution leading to the departure of the Syrian regime is the sole guarantee for bringing an end to the crisis.

Commenting on the issue of arms, Jumblatt said that the continuation of the arbitrary and chaotic arms proliferation as is the case today poses a threat to the citizens and distorts its main function, stressing that this issue should be exclusively settled within the framework of the national dialogue council.
