Foreign Affairs Minister Gebran Bassil met Tuesday with House Speaker Nabih Berri at his residence in Ain el-Tineh, in the presence of Education Minister Elias Bou Saab.
Following the meeting, Bassil considered that what happened yesterday in Maarab is a major breakthrough, adding that it enhances the unity among the Christians as well as it benefits the whole country.
On Monday, Lebanese Forces leader shocked the country by endorsing his long-time rival MP Aoun in a joint news conference from Maarab.
Bassil stated that the Free Patriotic Movement is keen on reaching an understanding with its allies and with other parties.
In turn, Bou Saab noted that the meeting was positive.
Earlier during the day, Bassil held a meeting with former Minister Faysal Karami, with talks featuring high on the need to combat terrorism, which is a huge threat to everyone.
For his part, Karami expressed hopes that Aoun reaches the presidency.
