Head of the Future bloc MP Fouad Siniora said Friday that “the Lebanese Foreign Ministry has once again committed a wrong move with a weak and deplorable stance that violates the interests of the Lebanese government and people.”
Siniora’s remarks came after the statement of the Lebanese Foreign Ministry issued during the meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). Lebanon’s position opposed that of the 57 Arab and Islamic states who denounced the attacks against the Saudi Embassy in Teheran.
Siniora added in a statement that “this stance proves how biased the Lebanese Foreign Ministry is towards Iran against the consensus of the Arab and Islamic countries.”
Accordingly, Siniora urged the Lebanese government to “correct this blatant and repeated fault committed by the Lebanese Foreign Ministry in a way that goes in line with the consensus reached by the Arab states and the members of the Organization of Islamic Conference,” stressing the need to preserve the interests of the Lebanese government and people.
