Kortbawi submits candidate for head of Higher Judicial Council

The justice minister revealed that he has presented a candidate’s name for the position of the head of the Higher Judicial Council, hoping that a solution be reached in this regard.

Justice Minister Shakib Kortbawi also announced on Monday that a decree on the missing and forcibly disappeared persons is being prepared in coordination with the Committee of Families, MPs Ghassan Moukheiber and Hikmat Dib, adding that the decree will be later referred to the cabinet.

During the press conference, Kortbawi said that the appointments issue received too much media exposure, stressing that such an issue should be tackled quietly.

In his concluding remarks, Kortbawi called for restraint when considering the rotten food scandal, adding that the judiciary takes action in case of violations and that numerous arrests have already been made in the case.
