Telecommunications Minister Boutros Harb said Sunday that “Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil’s claim that his stances were in harmony with the content of the ministerial statement or even the Arab League Charter are not acceptable, as his positions violated both and did not sincerely represent the Lebanese government or its policies.
"Bassil tried to act inelegant before his Arab counterparts, claiming he had convinced them and that they took his stance into consideration”, he stressed.
Harb supported Prime Ministers Tammam Salam’s call for an urgent cabinet meeting Monday and the importance of uniting Lebanon’s position in favor of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Gulf Countries.
Moreover, the deputy objected any stances that contrast the Arab consensus, demanding Lebanon’s support to Saudi Arabia in facing encountered dangers.
On another note, Harb hoped Saudi Arabia would understand these facts and go back with its decision.
“Consequences of this decision will serve Saudi Arabia and Lebanon’s enemies, at the expenses of the Lebanese Army, relations with Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries", he explained.
