REPORT: Trial of former Minister Samaha deferred until March 10

Trial of former Information Minister Michel Samaha was adjourned on Tuesday to March 10.

Head of the Military Cassation Court Judge Toni Lattouf announced at the beginning of today’s session that the Military Tribunal’s medical team examined Samaha and said that he was in a good health condition to attend the hearing.

Samaha was admitted to hospital last Thursday (February 18) after falling ill in court.

The ex-minister held on to his defense that he fell victim to entrapment by an undercover police agent, saying he was used as “bait to target Syria through explosives.”

Samaha, a main ally of Syrian President Bashar Assad, was freed by the Military Court of Cassation on bail last month despite having been convicted of terror plot to shake the country’s stability last year.
