Azzi’s remarks were made during an interview with LBCI’s Nharkom Said whereby he stressed that “Prime Minister Tammam Salam was serious when he threatened to resign from Cabinet,” noting that by doing so the PM prompted the political powers to exert more efforts to find a solution to the alarming crisis.
Azzi clarified that Kataeb Party’s interest resides in the resignation of its ministers firstly and in that of the Cabinet secondly, asking, however, “Will this serve Lebanon’s interest?”
Speaking of labeling Hezbollah a terrorist organization, the minister said that “whether the party was terrorist or not, we, as Lebanese people, cannot but deem it as one of Lebanese parties.”
“Arabs did not describe Hezbollah as terrorist for local reasons. They did so for foreign Iranian motives,” he added.
