Gemayel calls on China to play greater role in the region

Head of the Kataeb Party Amin Gemayel met on Thursday with a delegation from the Chinese foreign affairs parliamentary committee to discuss bilateral relations. They also tackled regional political events, particularly the developments in Syria.

The delegation praised Gemayel's policy and stances, saying that China did not seek to protect the Syrian regime. "Beijing acts according to the United Nations’ charter and based on the solid principle of not interfering in any country's domestic affairs and respecting its sovereignty, independence and unity," the delegation said.

Gemayel, for his part, called on Beijing to play a better role in the region and adopt the Arab league's stance pertaining to Syria's crisis in international arenas, so as to contribute in finding a solution to end the Syrian people’s suffering.
