Head of Democratic Party MP Talal Arslan said Sunday that "he cannot accept an environmental solution that is environmentally illogical."
"The Costa Brava landfill is not a socialist project, and Agriculture Minister Akram Chehayyeb expressed his rejection to its establishment,” he added.
Following his meeting with Taymour Jumblatt, Chehayyeb and Health Minister Wael Abou Faour, Arslan pointed out that they will be closely watching every bit of the landfill’s formation.
The lawmaker stated that the waste crisis cannot be solved through the landfills option, adding that “the government has only put off the crisis a little longer."
In the same context, Arslan said “I will ask for international experts, and will sue the establishment of the Costa Brava and Bourj Hammoud landfills as they both violate the Barcelona agreement."
