REPORT: Garbage trucks return to al-Naameh
The implementation of the waste plan that was approved by the Lebanese Cabinet started on Saturday as seven dump trucks entered the Naameh landfill, while the Costa Brava landfill is under preparation

This as the Council for Development and Reconstruction issued a statement whereby it said that the garbage are being lifted from the streets and transported to the Naameh sanitary landfill as per the Cabinet’s decision.

The statement added that preparatory works started last Thursday at Bourj Hammoud and Costa Brava landfills.

The Council concluded that the plan is being implemented as per the set program in coordination with the security forces.

Last week, the Lebanese cabinet decided to establish two landfills in Costa Brava and Bourj Hammoud and to re-open the Naameh landfill for two months only as part of a four-year plan to resolve the country’s waste management crisis despite the rejection of many residents and civil society activists.
