Patriarch Rai says random use of weapons should stop
Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai voiced on Sunday hopes that the Lebanese people would stop the random use of weapons, expressing regrets for the death of the 8 year-old girl Bettina Raidy in a stray bullet.
A child died on Wednesday of a gunshot wound sustained on Thursday when she was hit by gunfire during a funeral.
Bettina Raidy was hit by stray bullets during a funeral in the region of Qartaboun.
“Today’s prayers are dedicated for a just and comprehensive peace in Iraq and all the countries in the Middle East,” Rai added during his Sunday’s sermon in Bkerke.
On another note, Rai stressed that the presidential vacuum will not end in the country unless mercy fills the hearts of the Lebanese officials and wars end in the region.

Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum since the mandate of president Michel Sleiman ended in May 201 without the election of a successor.
Deep disputes between rival political parties have thwarted the polls.
