Physician Riad al-Alam confessed to his crime during interrogations, after being accused of performing abortions to the 75 women who were freed from Chez Maurice hotel, where they were held and forced into prostitution through beating and torture.
His confessions were declared by the Internal Security Forces Directorate General one day after the security apparatus uncovered the network.
According to the women’s statements, al-Alam used to perform abortion on them when they were three-month pregnant or more, which is considered a crime.
Also according to the statements given by the victims, the physician used to prescribe them a sort of medication dedicated to poison the fetus, then when they start suffering from a bleeding, they were transferred to his clinic where he insisted on beating them hard on the stomach before removing the fetus.
The physician’s assistant confirmed the stories of the women during interrogations.
Al-Alam also confessed during questioning that the abortions were conducted so that the women can return to the hotel and resume their work in prostitution.
